Twenty-four artifacts, or approximately 21 bowls, are represented here: twelve from Montezuma County, Colorado; two from San Juan and five from McKinley counties, New Mexico; and two from San Juan County, Utah. Four of these (denoted by *) might actually be from Motif 1 bowls.
Five artifacts from Mesa Verde display an unusual use of floating triangles as accompaniments to: Motif 3 (5MV117), Motif 7 (5MV1937.67148, 5MV1937.67146) and Motif 4 (5MV1937.67439.PL25, 5MV1937.67443.b). Site 5MV117 (ca. A.D. 600) is located on Chapin Mesa, while site 5MV1937 (A.D. 620) is located on Wetherill Mesa; these two sites might demonstrate the transmission of this motif across several canyons and mesas in the course of a generation.
